I have an Elizabeth Doxsee in my line, born 7/12/1780 in Merrick, Long
Island, New York. She married a Scottish immigrant to New York, John Dickson,
and they had several children before his early death in 1815. I have neither
the date of her death nor her parentage, but I suspect that she's somehow
connected to the Long Island Doxsee clam-chowder family because of the
spelling of the name and the geographical proximity. It's of course possible
that she married again at some time, since she was still a relatively young
woman when she lost her husband.
Here's the sum total of the information I have on her:

I think it probably came from the Scottish side of the family, since it's a Scottish name; but there's always the possibility of it having come from the Doxsees. Does anyone know of a Doxsee in the earlier 1700s who married a Nesbit?
